One of the main purposes of the fire prevention division is to educate the public about the dangers of unwanted fire and how to prevent these fires. The Cleveland Fire Department has a long history of educating the public. First and foremost is the relationship that the fire department has enjoyed with the local schools located within the city limits. The Cleveland Fire Department has a long-standing history of visiting the schools talking with youngsters from Pre-K to the 5th grade.

The fire prevention division enjoys talking to students about their future. The Cleveland Fire Department regularly attends career days for middle school, high school and even college-aged students to give information about a career in the fire service.
