Stormwater Utility

The City of Cleveland has implemented a stormwater utility funding program to address long-standing flooding issues that impact local citizens. In response to the flooding, the City partnered with the Army Corps of Engineers to develop a flood study to identify potential flood reduction projects to protect the citizens of Cleveland. The stormwater utility funds will go toward implementing these projects. In addition, the City will also use the funds that are generated to comply with Federal Clean Water Act requirements to improve the quality of water in local streams.

Many local governments in Tennessee, including Chattanooga, Hamilton County, and Signal Mountain, have already implemented similar fee programs. Included on this page are resources that will help answer some of the most frequently asked questions about the stormwater utility.

If you have any questions about the stormwater utility or about your rate please contact the Stormwater Division at 423-479-1913.
