Volunteer Chaplain Program
The Volunteer Chaplain Program is a non-sworn position intended to support the mission of the police department in providing a source of strength to the law enforcement officers and their families, other department members and the community.

The program will support officers in the handling of crisis situations, comfort victims and their families when accidents occur and when criminal incidents are committed, and provide counseling and other ministerial functions that may be needed.

Chaplain duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Responding to assignments, such as death notifications, trauma scenes with counseling and assistance to victims, friends, and/or family members when made by the police department supervisor and/or when contacted by the dispatcher.
  • Visit Cleveland Police Department personnel and families while in the hospital or sick at home and attend social events, ceremonies and offer the invocation and/or benediction.
  • To provide liaison with other religious leaders in the community

The Volunteer Chaplain Program is under the supervision of the Support Services Commander and answers directly to the Support Services Manager, Travis Weber.
